Natural de Vila Nova de Gaia, foi professor do ensino secundário e poeta. Deixou obra poética vasta, publicada sob pseudónimo, entre 1932 e 1995. Viveu as últimas décadas na sua "Quinta da Baldrufa", em Ponte de Lima, onde faleceu.
