Biographical history
Arqueólogo, etnógrafo, crítico de arte, comentador hípico e oficial de cavalaria do Exército Português, nascido em Madrid, veio com a família fixar-se em Barcelos, terra a que se dedicou e considerou sua. Nos anos 1930 deu início à recolha de peças de olaria de Barcelos que identificou, catalogou e doou em grande parte, sob anonimato, à Câmara Municipal em 1952 (origem do Museu de Olaria de Barcelos). Investigou e escreveu sobre etnografia da região, incluindo significativa coleção de fotografias e fez o Mapa Arqueológico do Concelho de Barcelos. Foi também crítico de arte e organizador de exposições. Em 1957 fez parte do Júri de seleção de obras da I Exposição de Artes Plásticas organizada pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e coordenou textos do respetivo catálogo, génese da coleção posteriormente integrada no Centro de Arte Moderna desta instituição.
