Engenheiro de formação, esteve em cargos executivos no Banco Português do Atlântico, no Banco Português de Investimento, na Fundação Cupertino de Miranda e na Lusotur, SA., entre outros. Ligado por parentesco à família Arthur Cupertino de Miranda, era irmão de Isabel Meyrelles (Maria Isabel Sobral Meireles). O seu nome ficou associado ao Museu da Fundação e ao Centro Português de Surrealismo, para cujo espólio deu significativo contributo, nomeadamente por doação de obras da coleção de Cruzeiro Seixas, a este adquiridas.
